What is SBIP?

The Scalar Botswana Innovation Programme (SBIP) is a multi-year programme based in Botswana, aimed at early-stage ventures in SADC or across Africa. Botswana domiciliation is mandatory. SBIP was created to support climate change mitigation and/or adaptation projects at the intersection of energy and ICT.

The programme guides selected ventures from technology transfer to commercialisation, supporting their journey from prototype and MVP development through to launch, investment readiness, and market expansion.

SBIP is delivered jointly by the Botswana Innovation Fund (BIF) and Scalar Infrastructure and Real Assets (SIRA), with programme partners including Arizona State University and Frost & Sullivan.
